It feels like such a treat when this happens in Victoria.....I found a new restaurant to enjoy! I had the most delicious lunch today at the Tibetan Kitchen, a lovely restaurant on Broughton St between Fort and Broad. I spoke with the owner's daughter and I don't know how I've missed this delightful spot, but they have been open for just over 2 years. I enjoyed my meal so much that I wanted to help spread the word about this little gem.
I love that the Tibetan Kitchen supports local farmers. Their free range chicken, lamb and pork are from Still Meadow Farm in Metchosin and they serve AAA beef from Alberta. They also purchase organic seasonal produce from Vantreight Farms in Central Sannich.
All food is cooked from scratch in 100% canola oil, has no MSG and no artificial colouring or flavouring. All soups are made from scratch and contain no soup base. And for those with food sensitivities or allergies, curries can be served dairy and gluten free. Lots of wonderful vegetarian options on the menu too.
I took this photo part way through devouring my meal. It was one of the lunch specials on offer - free range chicken cooked in a creamy cashew mild curry, served with brown basmati rice, dal (lentil soup) and 2 whole wheat poories (bread). Beautiful and tasty, I thought it was a great deal at $12. My belly was so full and satisfied that I got to bring a 'to-go' container home with me.
Hope you get a chance to visit this amazing restaurant. I'll definitely be back again.
